Trip Overview

The journey ahead is into the land of frozen rivers and chilled waterfalls. After about 16000 ft till Gurudongmar is mostly flat land with mountains on all sides. Its a high altitude desert, hardly any vegetation and very stony and dusty. You have to make your own roads here and its very easy to get lost. Because it is a plateau, it is very cold as chilled winds come down the frozen mountain slopes. Don’t exert much as you would be gasping for breath at this altitude.

Gurudongmar lake at 17100 ft is mind blowing. In winters, the entire lake is frozen except one corner which is considered to be very sacred. Army jawans are always there to offer help. One should not miss Gurudongmar Lake in the north Sikkim tour.

The Yumthang Valley beyond Lachung is the major tourist attraction in the region. The colourful rhododendron bloom (April-May), soaring snow-capped peaks, and herds of wandering yaks makes this an idyllic location. The valley has a thermal spring, although the water can get quite dirty. The Lachung Gompa is the region’s largest Buddhist shrine, located on the hillside across from Lachung.

Short Itinerary

• Day 1: Pickup from NJP and drive(4-5 hours) to Gangtok. Take a stroll on the MG Marg in the evening to enjoy local culture and eateries. Overnight stay at Gangtok.
• Day 2: Gangtok to Lachen transfer (6-7 hours journey). Overnight stay at Homestay in Lachen.
• Day 3: Start your journey in very Early morning towards Gurudongmer Lake( one of the highest lake in the world at the height of 17,800ft) then drive back to Lachen and have your lunch. Then drive to Lachung. Overnight Stay at Lachung.
• Day 4: In the early morning start your journey towards Yumthang valley, Zero point and then drive back to Lachung and have your lunch. After lunch, return back to Gangtok. Spend some quality time in M.G. marg in the evening. Overnight stay at Gangtok.
• Day 5: After Breakfast, Gangtok to NJP drop.

How to Reach NJP/Bagdogra?

New Jalpaiguri Junction (NJP) is properly connected with all the regions in India, though regular train is available from Kolkata. And also Bagdogra Airport is easily connected with daily flights from Delhi/Kolkata.

Covid Rules and Protocols

All the travelers are requested to carry a Vaccine both dose certificate/ RT-PCR negative test certificate, not older than 72 hours prior to entry for safety of locals. Every tourists/Travelers are requested to follow all the Covid-19 guidelines.

Payment & Cancellation Policy:

• Book your slot with 30% advance payment and rest of the payment should be done on or before 30 days of the departure date.
• Any traveler tested positive for Covid-19 before joining the trek, his/her trip fee will be carried forward for 1 year to avail any of our trip.
• Due to any reason, if we have to cancel our trip plans, you will be notified and you will get a full refund/ trip fee can be adjusted with the next trip.
• Cancellation done 30 days before the departure date, get 90% refund of the full trip fee or get full fee back by book with us for the next trip.
• Cancellation done between 30 days to 20 days before the departure date, get 70% refund or get  90% of full fee back by book with us for the next trip.
• Cancellation done between 10 days to 20 days before the departure date, get 50 % refund or get 60% of full fee back by book with us for the next trip.
• Cancellation done less than 10 days before the departure date, no refund will be provided or get 40% of full fee back by book with us for the next trip.
